Pawnee City junior Austin Smith has won the Class D Boys' HIgh Jump at the Nebraska State Track Meet. Smith's winning height was 6-feet, 5-inches. Second place finisher, Tyler Christensen of Maxwell, cleared 6-feet, 4-inches.
The Sterling girls have placed in a couple events in Friday's final events. Jordan Lempka placed 5th in the discus, with a toss of 119-feet, 5-inches. The team of Wendy Sterkel, Tara Hesterman, Stacia Nielsen, and Jenna Nieveen finished second to Lindsay Holy Family in the 3200-meter relay.
