A tradition of 33-years continues this week, as the National Pony Express Association hosts the start of the annual re-ride of the Pony Express Trail.
600 riders from eight states, in authentic tradition, will take the Pony Express Oath and receive a bible as they take turns traveling the
1-thousand-966 mile trail from Sacramento, California, starting Wednesday, en-route to Saint Joseph, Missouri, where the re-ride wraps up on June 23rd.
The re-ride, the longest equestrian event in the nation, is a 10-day, 24-hour a day, event, commemorating the short-lived, but well remembered Pony Express enterprise, which has become a symbol of the Old West.
The riders will be carrying a commemorative letter, available for 5-dollars, by calling 620-342-6963.
