Southeast Community College in Beatrice hosted the annual Southeast Nebraska All-Star basketball and volleyball matches on Friday and Satursday.
On Friday the East Volleyball squad defeated the West team 3 games to 1.
In the Saturday night basketball games the West team won both the girls and boys games with the boys game needing an extra period to determine the winner.
In the girls game the final score was 70 – 55 with the West winning. For the East team Sarah Landis of Sacred Heart scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Her high school teammate Kelly Schawang scored 4 points and grabbed 7 boards.
Also competing for the East team was Chelsea Borrenpohl from Johnson County Central, Ashleigh Jordening form Falls City, Jacqueline Frary of Auburn who had 3 points and 4 rebounds, Kellie Gaddy from Lewiston who scored 2 points and had 5 rebounds and Hanna Alberts from Johnson-Brock.
In the boys game the West squad won 77 - 71 in overtime.
Max Ritchie of Nebraska City scored 14 points and grabbed 6 rebounds for the East squad. Hadley Sejkora, one of two Pawnee City players in the game scored 10 points, Garrett Borcher scored 4 pints and had 4 rebounds and 3 assists in the game.
Others competing from the area were Josh Stoller of Falls City with 3 points; Colin VanGroningen of Sterling with 5 points, Joseph Nelson of Auburn with 4 points, Kale Wolken of Johnson-Brock with 7 points and 8 rebounds, Zach Kaster of Johnson County Central scored 6 points, grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the team and dished off 4 assists. Jordan Murphy of Southern scored 5 points and had 6 rebounds.
