When originally advertising for bids the city had no takers.  After soliciting bids,  two companies bid the project and were just $200 apart on their bid.  The other company was AHRS Construction of Bern, Kansas.
When asked if the City was hauling the spoils to farmland in the area as was previously done,  Romine explained that is no longer an option.  ( play audio :13 seconds )
In other business the Council approved on final reading an ordinance concerning sidewalk specifications in the downtown area and approved the appointment of Randy Raney to the Housing Authority.
What to do about the tree’s or the birds that live in them south of the library was also discussed.  We will  have that information for you on Wednesday.
