Training Offered for New American Red Cross Disaster Volunteers
02/07/2014

Have you ever thought about becoming a disaster volunteer for the American Red Cross? Ever wonder what we do when we respond to the scene of a house fire or after large events like the recent Moore, OK tornadoes?

The Midland Empire Chapter of the American Red Cross will be hosting a one day training for new volunteers on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 from 9 am – 4 pm.   Disaster Services: An Overview will be held in the morning followed by a Shelter Fundamentals course in the afternoon.  These courses will provide an overview of disaster services as well as focus on feeding and sheltering the public after a disaster incident.  These courses will prepare someone to respond locally or nationally and are free.

The courses will be held at the Midland Empire Chapter of the American Red Cross, 401 North 12th Street in St. Joseph, MO.

If you are interested in attending or would like more information on how to become a volunteer for the American Red Cross, please call the chapter at 816-232-8439.
