(KTNC) - An event is planned at Verdon Lake State Recreation Area for Take Pride in America Day on Saturday, May 3.
The day is a time for people to get outside and help improve state parks and wildlife areas.
The event at Verdon Lake will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will finish by 4:00 p.m. on May 3. Activities include cutting trees, wood chipping, cleaning and painting restrooms, picking up trash, cleaning grills, and painting and repairing picnic tables. Lunch will be provided to volunteers.
Individuals and groups – including service clubs and youth organizations – are encouraged to participate. Volunteers need to pre-register by May 1 to ensure an accurate count for lunch.
Volunteers should bring work gloves, sunscreen and bug spray, and can also bring hand tools such as pruners, lopers, or rakes.
Anyone can volunteer, but those under age 19 must have a parent’s permission. For more information or to register, call the Indian Cave State Park office at 402-883-2575. No park entry permit will be required for volunteers that day.
