(KTNC) - A boil advisory has been issued for residents on the northwest side of the Village of Big Lake, Missouri. The advisory is in effect until further notice and includes all of Mobile lane, Alpine Beach Drive, Fairlane Drive, Richards Lane, and Stanton Drive.
Big Lake officials declared the boil advisory on Thursday due to a loss of water pressure.
Village officials say residents in the affected area should take several precautions:
-Boil water vigorously for at least three minutes before using it for cooking or drinking. Continue boiling water until the cause of the contamination has been corrected.
-Disinfect surfaces, like dishes, that contact food by immersing them for at least one minute in clean tap water that contains a teaspoon of unscented bleach per gallon of water.
-Remake ice cubes with water that has been boiled.
Water used for bathing does not need to be boiled.
The advisory is effective for the northwest side of the Village of Big Lake until the problem is corrected and water samples show there is no contamination. Big Lake officials will notify residents when the boil order is lifted.
