(KTNC)--The Pawnee City Council approved the salary ordinance Monday night. On a 3-1 vote, with John Dahlgren voting no, the council approved the second reading of the ordinance and then approved a motion to suspend the third reading, formally approving the ordinance on second reading.
Monday’s action will allow the ordinance to be published before August 15 as required.
The ordinance provides for a 3-percent across-the-board increase for all city employees, except seasonal workers.
The council also approved a resolution to set up a Reserve Account Fund for the Fire Department. That will allow the city to put funds left in the Fire Fund Budget into a reserve account, with the money earmarked to purchase a new grass rig for the Fire Department.
Pawnee City has also set up a General Fund Reserve Account, to set aside money for capital expenditures through the General Fund, and a Water Tower Repair Reserve Account.
