Richardson County Commissioners Hear From Goldberg Group Architect
07/30/2014

(KTNC)--Richardson County Commissioners heard from architect Artie Lucas, with the Goldberg Group of St. Joseph, during Tuesday’s meeting.
The Goldberg Group had prepared initial designs for the Richardson County Jail project, but the board terminated the contract and has contracted with Prochaska and Associates to design the law enforcement center.
Lucas presented letters to commissioners vouching for the Goldberg Group’s work on various projects around the country – including jails in Mississippi, Arkansas, New Mexico, and Andrew County Missouri.
Lucas told commissioners he wanted to clear up what he said is misinformation that’s been spread about his company. He said they do not take it lightly when their company's name is being disparaged. He thanked Richardson County Commissioners for being fair with him and his company.
Lucas said he'd like the Richardson County Board to seriously consider rescinding its action terminating the county's contract with the Goldberg Group. He said they stand by their products and how they do business and promised a quality product.
Commissioners were scheduled to consider an agreement with Prochaska and Associates for the design phase of the new jail. They tabled action on the contract until they get a recommendation from County Attorney Doug Merz, who was unable to attend Tuesday’s meeting.
