(KMZA)--Katrina Sudbeck graduated from B and B High School in 2011 and is now a senior in Agronomy at Kansas State University with an option in consulting and production.  She will be graduating in December and plans to pursue a career within the agriculture industry.  Over the last three years, Katrina has held two internships and has worked as an undergraduate teaching assistant in the Department of Agronomy.  This will be her second year instructing a lab for the introductory crop science course at K-State.  Katrina was a member of both the first place NACTA Crops and Weed Science Teams this past year, placing top individual in the Weed Science contest.  Katrina loves helping out on the farm every chance she gets and enjoys opportunities to teach others about agronomy.

In 2008, Lola Droge and her family established the Leslie Albert and Lola Fern Droge Scholarship for Agricultural Studies with the STEP Foundation to honor Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Droge who lived and farmed most of their married lives in Nemaha County.  The couple was progressive and looked at new and modern ways of farming.  They became leaders in terracing and other land conservation methods.  Managing a cow and calf herd, along with grasslands, wheat, and row crops, they provided a living for their family while producing plants and animals to help feed the world.  Not only did they work hard in agriculture, they served in other activities as well.  Lola was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was actively involved in her political party.  Leslie served in the State Senate and was chairperson of the Senate Agricultural committee.  Leslie and Lola, as well as their five children, all attended Kansas State University.

The Leslie Albert and Lola Fern Droge Scholarship for Agricultural Studies is awarded to a student that is a junior or above standing and enrolled in the College of Agriculture at Kansas State University.  The scholarship is in the amount of $500.  Students must also be a former graduate from a Nemaha County high school.
