(KNZA)--A November 4th preliminary hearing has been set for one of the two men arrested in connection with the shooting death of a Topeka police officer.
The Topeka Capital Journal reports the hearing for 40-year-old Randy Ridens, Jr. was set during an appearance in a Shawnee County courtroom Thursday.
Ridens is being held in the Shawnee County Jail on a million dollar bond on charges of felony obstruction and possession of a stolen motorcycle.
Prosecutors say Ross Lane shot and killed Corporal Jason Harwood on September 7th and then called Ridens, who helped him flee to Lawrence. Lane was eventually captured in Lawrence.
Lane is charged with capital murder and is scheduled to appear in court September 25th.
Both men had previously lived in Holton and had served time in the Jackson County Jail this past year.
