(KMZA)--A 31-year-old Horton man is jailed in Nemaha County, arrested following an extensive search launched on Saturday.
Taken into custody on charges including possession of stolen property and interference with law enforcement is Zachariah Brown, identified as the suspect who sparked the weekend manhunt.
It happened after the Nemaha County Sheriff's Office received a report regarding a suspicious man, and what appeared to be an abandoned vehicle, near 1st and N Road in the southern portion of the county.
Deputies arrived at the scene and the man took off on foot, fleeing into a nearby cornfield.
A search was launched assisted by the Kansas Highway Patrol and the Jackson County Sheriff's Office. However, despite the use of a helicopter and K-9 officers, the suspect was able to escape. Authorities continued the investigation, and learned that the abandoned vehicle was a pick-up truck stolen from Falls City.
Authorities also learned that the suspect they were pursuing was Brown, and they were able to locate him late in the afternoon on Saturday, taking him into custody without incident.
