(KAIR)--An Atchison woman has been arrested after allegedly stabbing her daughter with a small knife during a domestic disturbance.
According to Police Chief Mike Wilson, officers were called to a residence in the 500 block of Park Street just after 4:00 Monday afternoon. Upon arrival, it was discovered that 44-year old Melissa Rains had allegedly stabbed her 29-year-old daughter three times with a small knife following a verbal argument.
Rains had fled the scene, but was found by officers a short time later in the 600 block of Commercial Street. She was transported to the Atchison County Jail, where she faces a charge of aggravated battery.
Wilson says that Rains' daughter suffered only minor injuries, and refused medical treatment.
