CDBG Awarded to Nebraska City Lied Center
(KLZA)-- Governor Dave Heineman has awarded the City of Nebraska City with $238,400 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Tourism Development funding to renovate the Lied Lodge and Conference Center.
The Lied Lodge & Conference Center provides a lasting impression for many new and returning regional, national and international visitors traveling to and through Nebraska via Interstate 80 East and Nebraska Highway 2 East-West.
Renovations designed to provide barrier-free accessibility for disabled and elderly conference attendees and guests requiring wheelchair access and other accommodations will include a remodel of the lobby restroom and first floor public restroom; installation of automatic exterior front entrance doors at the circle drive, and pool lifts for an Olympic-size indoor pool; north entrance ramp and flatwork; and general renovation of a breakout room and the lobby to accommodate wheelchair accessible check-in options at the front desk and host stand.
The improvements are part of a “once-in-20-year-project” named Lied Lodge Renewal. The interior renovations are part of Phase II that is expected to take place from January-March 2015. Phase I exterior work that was completed included roof repairs, stucco painting and wood siding staining.
