(KNZA)--A two vehicle crash in Brown County Sunday evening sent three to the hospital.
Sheriff John Merchant says it happened when a car driven by Saint Joseph resident Mark Wesby was westbound on U.S. Highway 36, west of Hiawatha, and was struck broadside by a car driven by Hiawatha resident Kenneth Ross, who was traveling westbound on Natchez Road.
Ross was transported to the Hiawatha Community Hospital with serious injuries and later transferred to the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City.
A passenger in his vehicle, along with a passenger in Wesby's vehicle, were both treated and released in Hiawatha.
The crash remains under investigation.
The Hiawatha Fire Department, the Brown County Rescue Squad, Town and Country ambulance and the Hiawatha Police Department all assisted at the scene.
