(KAIR)--An Atchison man was taken into custody Sunday after a police investigation showed that he was involved in an alleged assault.
Police Chief Mike Wilson says the incident followed a verbal altercation inside the Milk House bar, located at 11040 U.S. 59 Highway, just before 12:30 on the morning of February 14th: A 38-year-old male and a 26-year-old male, who were both involved in the earlier altercation, were standing in the parking lot of the bar when they were allegedly struck by a vehicle driven by 36-year-old Shaun Handke.
Wilson says that officers were not called to the scene at the time. However, one of the victims reported the incident to police two days later, leading to the investigation.
Handke was booked into the Atchison County Jail on a charge of aggravated battery.
Both victims received minor injuries, but did not require hospitalized treatment.
