Pawnee City Superintendent, Board Member, Resign

(KLZA)-- The Pawnee City Board of Education accepted the resignation of Superintendent Stephen Grizzle when they met Monday evening. Grizzle said it had been an extreme pleasure to serve as Superintendent at Pawnee City for six years.  He had previously taught in the district for seven years.  Grizzle said he feels the Pawnee City School District is in really good shape.  

Grizzle will work until June 30th and then take over as Superintendent at Fairbury July 1.  

The Pawnee City Board voted to accept with regret the resignation of School Board member Rob Voigtlander,due to his relocation to Lincoln. Brian Rottinghaus was appointed to the Pawnee City Public Schools Education Foundations Board of Directors to replace the seat vacated by Voigtlander.  The term will expire in March, 2018.  

The Board voted to schedule a Special Board Meeting for Thursday,  March 12, at 7 p-m to listen to presentations from Superintendent Search firms and/or discuss or appoint new Board Member. 

In other action the Pawnee City School Board authorized Superintendent Grizzle to issue contracts of employment to certified staff members other than those whose employment and contract may be recommended for reduction, termination or non-renewal. 

The Board voted to change the last day of school for the 2014-15 school year for students to Tuesday, May 19 and for staff as Wednesday, May 20. A 2 p-m dismissal of students on April 2 was approved for the purpose of the School Improvement External visitation. Action on a policy concerning admission of students who reside out of the state of Nebraska was tabled. All necessary action for the Pawnee City Public School Foundation’s recommendations and actions including the awarding of scholarships for the 2014-15 school year and other expenditures was approved.
