Minor Flooding Predicted Along Missouri River
05/08/2015

Missouri River, June 22, 2014

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Forecasters are calling for minor flooding over the weekend on farmland along the Missouri River.

National Weather Service hydrologist Scott Watson says the river may overrun its banks in stretches of the river spanning from St. Joseph into Iowa and downstream of Kansas City from Napoleon to Miami.

The river is expected to be no more than a few inches above flood stage in the affected cities. The anticipated flooding is the result of 5 to 10 inches of rain that fell earlier this week in Nebraska.

A flood warning is in effect for the Missouri River at Rulo until Saturday afternoon. The forecast is for the river to rise to just above flood stage after midnight. Agriculture land along both side of the river are impacted at that point.
