(KNZA)--A Norfolk, Nebraska man is facing several charges after leading the Kansas Highway Patrol on a chase through Doniphan County Friday night.

KQ2-TV reports 27-year-old Daniel Robert McGuane led troopers on a pursuit after allegedly stealing a truck out of Sugar Creek, Missouri.

Troopers tried to stop McGuane between Elwood and Wathena, but that's when they say he sped off.

McGaune jumped out of the truck to avoid capture while it was moving, but he was arrested in a wooded area near Peck Road shortly after.

The truck hit a tree after McGuane fled.

McGuane is facing charges of fleeing and eluding, possession of stolen property, interfering with arrest, reckless driving, driving without a license and numerous traffic violations.

He remains jailed in Doniphan County.

According to online records, McGuane has a criminal history, having served time in a Nebraska prison for robbery, assault, and forgery. He was released last December.
