(KAIR)--An Atchison man turned himself into police late Thursday morning after a district court warrant was issued for his arrest, accusing him of sex crimes against a child.
Police Chief Mike Wilson says that police did “conduct an investigation that focused on unlawful sexual acts that occurred between 2003 and 2008 involving a female victim that was under the age of fourteen during that time. That case was sent to the County Attorney's office, who filed formal charges against the 33-year-old Atchison man.”
Wilson says the investigation into Steven Piper was started late last week, after the alleged crimes were brought to police attention.
Piper is charged with aggravated indecent liberties with a child, three counts of aggravated criminal sodomy, and two counts of aggravated indecent solicitation of a child.
He remains in the Atchison County Jail.
