(KNZA)--The body found in Jackson County Wednesday could be that of a person missing for two weeks.
Sheriff Tim Morse says his office responded to the 16000 block of R.4 Road, northeast of Mayetta, before 7:00 Wednesday morning. They'd been called there for a welfare check after an employer reported that an employee had not been seen for nearly two weeks.
Deputies discovered the body near a creek bed, about 100 yards from the residence at the R.4 Road location.
The body is not yet officially identified. An autopsy will be conducted at Frontier Forensics in Kansas City, where identification is expected to be confirmed.
