Fire Causes Major Damage to Falls City Home

(KLZA)- Fire caused major damage to a Falls City home early Tuesday morning.

Falls City Volunteer Fire Chief Ken Simpson said the call at 4:30 was to the home of John and Alison Roland in the 2600 block of Hiland Avenue.

Simpson said John Roland awoke to the smell of smoke in the two-story home and he and his wife were able to get out safely.

The second story of the home was severely damaged with water damage to the lower level. Currently there is not a dollar amount estimate on the damage.

The State Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire. The couple is in the midst of remodeling the home.     

Three fire trucks, 15 Falls City Volunteer Fire Fighters and six members of the Falls City Rural Fire Department responded to the call.  Crews were on the scene for more than five hours.
