(KAIR)--Accused of setting his supervisor on fire, a Leavenworth man is indicted on federal charges related to the attack.
That word from the office of Acting U.S. Attorney Tom Beall, which says, in a news release, that 54-year-old Clifford Currie is charged with one count of assault to commit murder and one count of assault with a dangerous weapon.
That comes as a federal grand jury Wednesday indicted Currie, a civilian hospital employee at Fort Leavenworth, on the charges related to attacking, and injuring two women.
One of the women was revealed in a criminal complaint filed September 8 as Currie's supervisor. The complaint states Currie threw gasoline, or some other inflammable liquid on Katie Ann Blanchard, and then lit her on fire. He's additionally accused of assaulting her with a straight edge razor and scissors.
The second woman, identified as Deanne Killian, a co-worker of Currie's, attempted to help Blanchard when she heard screams and saw Blanchard on fire from the chest up. Killian was injured as she tried to extinguish the fire and stop Currie from continuing his assault.
Currie was subdued by hospital employees and then arrested.
He faces up to 40-years in federal prison, and up to $500,000 in fines, if convicted on all charges.
