Water and sewer rates in Humboldt will be increasing, after action taken by the Humboldt City Council Tuesday night.
The Council approved ordinances to increase the water and sewer rates. The water rates take the biggest jump – from the current bi-monthly charge of $41, plus $1.75 per thousand gallons of water used to a base rate of $57 plus $2.30 per thousand gallons.
Sewer rates took a more modest increase. The old rate was $18 bi-monthly plus two-dollars for every thousand gallons of water used. The new base charge will be $21, with the same usage fee of two-dollars per thousand gallons.
The new water and sewer rates will become official once the ordinances are published in the newspaper. The new rates will likely take effect on March 1st.
In other business, the Humboldt City Council met with Richardson County Sheriff Randy Houser regarding placement of an antenna on the Humboldt water tower. Sheriff Houser said he needed to determine if the new antenna would interfere with the signal from the other antennas now on the water tower.
Council members gave permission to Humboldt Motorsports to store bleachers at the airport. Permission was granted to allow the Chamber of Commerce to use the Square Park for the Spring Fling on March 29th.
The Council took under advisement a request from Chris Horner to build a shelter for the ducks at the Lake Park.
And Bob Bucher was appointed to fill a position on the Auditorium Board.
