Pawnee Co. Commission Conduct Hearing on Road Plans
02/16/2012

Pawnee County Commissioners this week held a public hearing on the One and Six Year Road Plan.  Harlan Beethe and Steve Schaardt were present for the meeting asking that a tube or bridge be put between two sections of land north of Table Rock.  Schaardt offered to donate some of his land to move the road over to cut down on the danger with the Burlington Northern Railroad.  Commissioners agreed to take a look at the situation.
Commissioners also held a public hearing on closing a road.  Richard Binder opposed the closing saying he used the road to get fuel to his irrigation system.  Binder suggested the County buy a 4-foot tube and that he install it.  The matter was taken under advisement.
Following a public hearing drawing no public comment the Pawnee County Board approved the Roadhouse / Dance Hall certificate for the ZCBJ Hall.
Emergency Manager Mike Wilcox met with Commissioners to discuss a new radio to be installed in the Pawnee County Sheriff’s office which will be a statewide radio system.  Commissioners voted to participate in the statewide radio system.
Johnson County Emergency Manager Clint Strayhorn met with the Pawnee County Board concerning sending alerts out on cell phones instead of using pagers.  A number of Pawnee County fire department representatives were in attendance.  Commissioners voted to approve the fire departments and EMS to use the Immediate Response Information System.
Deb Weitzenkamp with the Pawnee County Extension Office met with Board members to discuss replacement of a computer.  The Board voted to approve purchase of a new computer with the cost to be shared with the University of Nebraska.
