Three Area Wrestlers Win State Medals

Three area wrestlers placed in this past weekend’s Nebraska State Wrestling Tournament.
    In Class C, Falls City senior Cole Ackerman placed 6th at 182-pounds.  Ackerman won his first two matches to advance to the semifinals, where he lost a 13-8 decision to eventual champion Austin Fehlhafer of Seward.  Ackerman then lost his next two matches by injury default to finish in 6th place.  He ended the season with a 29-6 record.
    At 126-pounds, Falls City senior Tate Hayes lost his first two matches and did not place.  He ended the season with a 16-15 record.
    Auburn’s Calvin Bishop won 3 of 5 matches and placed 4th at 138-pounds,  finishing the season 31-6, while the Alec Dunn went 2-2 at 220-pounds and did not place. Dunn finished the season 31-7.
    In Class C, HTRS-Pawnee City senior T.J. Standerford went 3-2 at 220 pounds, losing a 13-5 major decision to Andrew Lorenz of Hartington Cedar Catholic in the 3rd place match to finish 4th.  Standerford ends his senior season with a 35-4 record.
    Also for HTRS-PC, Lucas Snethen went 1-2 at 195-pounds and did not place.  He ends the season 35-5.
    In the team standings, in Class B, Omaha Skutt Catholic was the team champion with 133 points.  Central City was second with 104.  Syracuse finished 9th in the team standings with 70-and-a-half points.  Auburn had 21 team points, and Falls City 9 team points.
    Valentine was the Class C team champion with 134 points.  HTRS-Pawnee City had 20 team points.
