A new motor vehicle program will be installed later this spring in Jefferson County.
County Treasurer Mary Underwood reported to the County Commissioners in their regular meeting Monday that it will go live on May 1st.
The treasurer’s office will be closed to test the system from eight to nine the morning of April 5th and implementation will take place May 1st through 8th.
During that week the office will not be able to process any motor vehicle transaction but will be able to accept tax payments.
In other business, Commissioners opened bids for bridge replacement on 154th road.
They received bids from Midwest Construction for 72 thousand with an abutment filing of 40 dollars a lineal foot and from Norfolk Construction for 28 thousand 772 dollars with an abutment filing cost of 27 dollars a lineal foot.
That bid indicated a tentative start date of August 15, 2013.
The board will hear a recommendation from the Road and Bridge Director next week.
