Solar Flares Blamed For Horton Siren Sounding
03/21/2012

Horton area residents report an abrupt Wednesday morning awakening, as the sound of an outdoor warning alert siren was heard shortly after 5:00.
Reserved primarily for times of  dangerous severe weather, specifically tornadoes, Horton authorities are saying the sounding of the siren was a malfunction, and are putting the blame on solar flares.
Solar flare activity has been strong in recent days, and they apparently caused frequency interference that cause the siren to go off.
Authorities are apologizing for the disturbance, and are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
