Richardson Co. Commissioners Meet With Union Reps
Richardson County Commissioners met with members of the Road Department Union Tuesday for further discussion on a contract. Representing the Union was Randy Gilsdorf, Jimmy Coonce, Matt Cromer and David Feek. They presented a counter offer to the Commissioners stating a 3-percent salary increase for year one and year two. This offer countered the Board’s offer of 2.5-percent each year of the two-year contract.
The Board offered a counter proposal of 2.7-percent in year one of the contract and 2.5-percent for the second year of the contract. The Union representatives countered with 2.7-percent for each year on a two year contract but the Commissioners did not accept this counter offer.
The Union representatives will present the County Board’s offer to the Union members. The two sides plan to meet again next week.
Commissioners conducted a public hearing to receive public comment in support or opposition to establishing a “Tobacco Free Policy” in an on all Richardson County owned buildings, grounds and vehicles. Five employees of the County attended the hearing and all were in support of the policy. No one was present to oppose the policy.
Commissioners awarded a number of bids during the meeting. They awarded bids to remove permanently closed bridges in Richardson County. One bid was awarded to Cory Snethen in the amount of $257, one to Dan Wittwer in the amount of $1,001 and two sites to Johansen Drainage and Tile for $1 each. The successful bidders have 60 days to remove the bridges.
Bids for the purchase of steel materials were also awarded. Purchases will be made from Midwest Sales and Service of Schuyler totaling $51,040; Oden Enterprises of Wahoo in the amount of $46,400 and culvert material bids were awarded to Metal Culverts Inc. of Jefferson City, Missouri for a total bid price of $44,787.
Highway Superintendent Scott Huppert was directed to organize a meeting between Richardson County Commissioners and Nemaha County, Kansas representatives to develop an agreement on bridges on the State Line Road.
