Richardson County Commissioners Tuesday approved a new contract with the Road and Bridge Department Union calling for a 2.75 percent pay increase in the first year of the agreement and a 2.5 percent pay increase in year two. The County will continue to provide health insurance coverage during the life of the contract .
In other business Commissioners awarded the bid for abutment / wing repairs at four sites in the County. The low bid from Nelson and Rock Contracting of Onawa, Iowa was approved at a cost of $186,176.
Sheriff Randy Houser met with Commissioners to continue discussion on the replacement of a patrol vehicle. He also submitted a purchase order for a weapon purchase.
A resolution was unanimously adopted to establish a tobacco free workplace policy for all county owned property including vehicles.
Russ Newton with Nebraska Machinery presented information to the board on new equipment that has become available and provided a demonstration of the equipment at the County Road Department yard.
Correspondence was reviewed from the State Auditors Office informing the County Board that their office would be performing the fiscal year end June 30th, audit report.
Commissioners also approved entering into an agreement with the Southeast Nebraska Community Action Council to authorize SENCA to apply for grant funding and administer the Richardson County Transit Program.
An agreement was also approved with the National Insurance Services for retirees to obtain long term care coverage at their own expense through the group insurance plan.
