A White Cloud man convicted of attempted failure to register as a sex offender has been placed on probation.
Aaron Rudder was given a suspended prison sentence today ( Friday ) in Brown County District Court on the felony charge and placed on 18-months supervised probation.
Rudder pleaded guilty earlier this month to the amended charge. He had originally been charged with failure to register as a sex offender.
Rudder was released from prison in Nebraska last year after serving time for first-degree sexual assault involving a 6-year-old girl.
Rudder registered as a sex offender in May and August with the Brown County Sheriff’s Department. However, authorities say he provided only his email address, and not his Facebook account.
Kansas offender regulations require that social media site information be included with registration.
