A new video created by the Missouri Department of Transportation highlights some of the major aspects of last year's flood and how it affected transportation in the region.
The video is available on MoDOT's Northwest District YouTube channel.
It can be seen at www.modot.org/northwest and then click on the YouTube link.
Starting in June of 2011, many miles of closures on Northwest Missouri highways began showing up as emergency releases from the upper reservoirs swelled the Big Muddy out of her banks.
Overall, Northwest Missouri had more than 70 miles of road closures due to flooding.
At least four emergency contracts were let to restore traffic at three Missouri River crossings.
The total estimated cost of flood repairs is approximately $17 million.
