Sterling Girls and Boys Win Titles at Pawnee City Track Inv.

Sterling won both the boys and girls portion of the Pawnee City Track Invitational on Tuesday afternoon. 
    On the girls side Sterling scored 108 points for first place, Mound City was second with 72, B&B and Bern tied for third with 69 points, Sacred Heart was 6th with 41 points followed by HTRS with 39,, Johnson-Brock with 34.5 and Pawnee City with 31.
    The Sterling boys scored  105 points for first place,  Pawnee City was second with 93, Lourdes Central Catholic was third with 91.  Johnson-Brock placed 4th with 51, followed by Sacred Heart with 49, Mound City with 47, B&B with 42, HTRS with 30 and Bern with 16 points.
    Mound City senior Tori Ingram won both the 100 meter hurdles and the 200 meter dash;  Panther junior Jordan Pankau won the 800 meters, and Alex Phillips won the pole vault.
    For Sterling Jenna Nieveen won the 100 and 400 meter races;  Wendy Sterkel won the 3200, Tara Hestermann won the 1600, Jordan Lempka won the discus and Emily Keim won the shot put.
    The Sacred Heart girls 4 x 800 relay team of Kelly Schawang, Abby Magdanz, Kelsi Fouraker and Elizabeth Magdanz won that event.
    The Bern girls won the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 meter relay races.
    For B&B Haley Strathman won the high jump and Triple Jump and Caitlin Deters won the long jump.
    Winners in the boys events included Johnson-Brock’s Kale Wolken winning the 100 meter dash, 300 meter hurdles and Long Jump.
    For Sterling Colin VanGroningen won the 400 and 200 meter races and Trey Trauernicht won the 1600 and 3200 meters.
    Hadley Sejkora of Pawnee City won the 800 meters by nearly five seconds, Austin Smith won the triple jump and the Indians 4 x 400 meter relay team was also a winner.
    Falls City Sacred Heart’s 4 x 800 relay team of Chaz Dunn, David Bangert, Austin Martin and Lane Barnhill won their event.
    Cody Heiman of B&B won the high jump clearing 6’6”, and Lucas Schawang of Mound City won the pole vault.
