(Peru, Neb.) – The mission was to sweep a double header from the home team and beat them by 16 runs – an almost impossible task.
Unfortunately, for the Peru State College (PSC) Bobcat softball team, they were not completely successful on Tuesday as they traveled to Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa.
However, the Bobcats did gain a split with the YellowJackets by winning game one 3-1, before falling in the nightcap 7-2.
The 'Cats did assure themselves of the fifth seed for the upcoming Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) post-season tournament as they finished the regular season with a 10-8 conference mark. Overall, the Bobcats are 29-23 for the year.
With the split, Graceland snagged the third seed and are 12-6 in the HAAC and 21-18 on the year.
Peru State will travel to Baker University in Baldwin City, Kan., on Friday, April 28, to face Baker University in the best of three series. A double header will take place on Friday with a third game, if necessary, being played on Saturday.
