Tuition to Increase at Nebraska State Colleges
Students attending Chadron, Peru and Wayne State Colleges next year will pay 3-and-a-half percent more in tuition.
The Nebraska State College System Board of Trustees has approved a 4-dollar and 75 cent per hour increase, raising the per credit hour cost for a resident undergraduate student to 71-dollars and 25 cents.
System Chancellor Stan Carpenter says the board sought to keep the tuition hike as low as possible. (play audio :23)
Online tuition will increase from the current 10-dollars per credit hour to 12-50. Carpenter says the board of trustees attempted to keep rates down while meeting the needs of the campuses. (play audio :15)
The board also has established, for the first time, a system-wide rate for high school students taking dual enrollment courses. The state colleges will now charge 50-dollars per credit hour for dual enrollment courses.
