The Board also heard a presentation from a Nebraska Machinery Company on a tracking system they have available.
A public hearing was held regarding inclusion of the incorporated area of the Village of Verdon to the Verdon Rural Fire Protection District.  Following the hearing Commissioners approved a resolution stating that annexing the corporate limits of Verdon into the Verdon Rural Fire Protection District would benefit the pubic interest and would be suited to the general fire protection policy of the County as a whole.
A meeting will be scheduled for the election of a Board of Directors of the newly reformed district on May 17th at 7 p-m at the Verdon Fire Hall in Verdon.
The quarterly jail inspection was held and the facility was found to be in good order.
Board members also met with Joseph M. Cromer regarding a grievance he filed in respect to a ticket he was issued by the Nebraska Department of Transportation.  Following the discussion it was agreed to gather more information and meet again May 22nd.
Commissioners also scheduled a public hearing for May 22nd at 11 a-m to receive input from the public on providing additional funds in the amount of $25,000 for the Sheriff’s Department budget for fiscal year 2011-12.
