A very successful season that included many different team and individual tournament wins was capped off yesterday for the Holton Wildcats with a third place team finish in 4A state golf tournament in Kansas City at Dub's Dread Golf Course.
The Wildcats tallied the third best team finish out of 12 total teams at state as they finished with a combined score of 323. Holton finished 10 strokes out of second place and 11 out of first.
Since, Holton fielded a team they had six golfers compete and another local school in Jeff West had two individuals compete at the state tournament, also. The highest individual performance for local area golf athletes in Class 4A went to Holton Wildcat, Tavin Dugan who placed sixth at state shooting a 78 on the day. This teammate, Kellen Brandt finished right outside ot the top 10, taking eleventh place as he shot a 79.
The other four Holton golfers finished individual on the today like so: Ethan Holoday (26th place, shot an 82), Garrett Holoday (36th place, shot an 84), Kenton Tegethoff (51st place, shot an 87) and Zach Fate (59th place, shot an 88).
The two Jeff West Tigers that competed at the state tournament finished 65th and 87th place, respectively, as Ryan Debus and Avery Farrant shot an 89 and 96 on the day.
