Auburn School Board Says No to Baseball Approves Teacher Agreement

A large gathering interested in the Auburn ( Neb. )School Board vote on the proposal to start a High School baseball team attended the Monday night Board meeting.  The Board voted against the proposal.  Superintendent Kevin Reiman comments.  ( play audio  :12 seconds ) 
Casting the lone yes vote was board member Beth Kernes Krause. Casting no votes were Bob Hemmingsen, JaNny Oestmann, Stephen Kennedy and Barb Billesbach with Board member Mike Zaruba absent.  
Superintendent Reiman said Board members explained it was not a good time to start up a new program.  ( play audio  :51 seconds ) 
It is possible the issue could be revisited in the future.  ( play audio  :18 seconds ) 
In other business, the Auburn School Board approved a two year agreement with the districts teachers increasing the base pay $500 for the 2012-13 school year and $450 for the 2013-14 school year. ( play audio  :19 seconds ) 
The Board also approved the hiring of Marla Jones as a new 6th Grade teacher.
