Sustainable and Profitable Pasture Management Dinner and Program
A sustainable and profitable pasture management dinner and program will be held on Monday, July 2nd at the Firehouse Meeting Room in Miltonvale Kansas. Registration begins at 5:15PM and dinner and the program will begin at 5:30PM.
The program will feature several speakers, including Walt Fick, K.S.R.E. Rangeland Management Specialist; Dwayne Rice N.R.C.S. Range Management Specialist; Tom Meek, Clay County Conservation District Manager and Josh Roe, K.S.U. Watershed Economist.
Highlights of the meeting are plant identification, brush/weed/cedar control methods, determining pasture stocking rates, drought preparedness and strategies, managing pastures to protect water quality and funding opportunities for pasture renovation.
The meeting will start at the Firehouse Meeting Room in Miltonvale for dinner and presentations. Later on in the evening the program will move to a pasture near Miltonvale for some “hands-on” pasture management presentations. Country Kafe will cater a roast beef dinner.
Funding for this event is provided by the Milford Watershed Restoration and Protection Strategy (WRAPS) project, with support from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
