Schools Benefit from Country Mart Fund

The Country Mart Education Fund, established nine years ago to benefit area schools, distributes $144,000 annually directly to local schools in the eighteen communities in which Country Mart operates supermarkets.

In the last ten years, the Country Mart group, comprising 18 supermarkets has invested more than $1.6 million in local schools and scholarships.

Dennis Garrett and his brother, Doug are part of the Country Mart owners’ group who contribute to the educational fund.

The fund is distributed twice during the school year based upon purchases made with participants’ Country Mart cards. Entry is easy, anyone can sign up their own Country Mart card on the web site www.mycountrymart.com

The following area schools are beneficiaries of the 2011-2012 Country Mart Educational Fund: Atchison Elementary School $986.86, Trinity Lutheran School $1068.31, Atchison County Community Elementary School $73.63, Atchison County Community Junior-Senior High School $61.10, Atchison Catholic Elementary School $823.49, Atchison Middle School $986.61.


The $8,000 is distributed $4,000 per semester.

This is the second semester payout for the 2011-2012 school year.
