Winchester Man Probation on Hold
06/19/2012

A Winchester man likely to be given probation on a felony theft charge had to return to jail due to a hold from Douglas County on an old case.

Benjamin Lansing was arrested in April for having his 75-year-old grandmother write 46 hundred and four dollars in checks in Atchison County beginning in 2011.

He pled guilty to the charges in early May.

He was given a six month sentence suspended to a year probation, on the theft charge.

However, his one year jail sentence on a violation of a protective order charge was kept from becoming concurrent probation for the time being by the county judge after learning about the hold from a failure to appear on a 2006 case in Douglas County.

He remains in Atchison County Jail.
