(KAIR)--Atchison police say what began as a typical argument among young family members Monday evening escalated from name calling to shoving and ultimately to a a violent attack with a kitchen pan, sending a 14-year-old boy to the hospital.
Police Chief Mike Wilson says it happened at a residence in the 500 block of Riley Street, and led to the arrest of a 15-year-old boy accused of using a glass pan as a weapon. “Sounds like by the statements made by those involved that it was actually just a typical argument that ensued between two youngsters that became more aggressive as the argument went on,” Wilson tells MSC News. “One of them eventually grabbed a glass dish and struck the other one hard enough to break the dish and cause a severe laceration.”
The teen was taken into custody on a charge of aggravated battery and transported to a juvenile detention facility.
The injured 14-year-old was treated and later released.
