(KMZA)--A federal agency is now assisting the Sabetha Police Department in it’s search for an accused rapist.
Sabetha Police Chief Robert Wahwasuck says his department has enlisted the help of the U.S. Marshals Service in it’s search for 51-year-old William Vogel, of Sabetha.
Vogel is wanted for the rape of a juvenile on August 10th in Sabetha.
Unlike city, county or state law enforcement, U.S Marshals have the authority to cross jurisdictional lines to apprehend fugitives.
Wahwasuck says Vogel’s family members are now working with the Sabetha Police Department.
The last confirmed sighting of Vogel was in the late evening hours of August 10th in St. Joseph, Missouri.
A Nemaha County warrant was issued for Vogel’s arrest on August 11th.
Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact the Sabetha Police Department at 785-284-2158.
