(KAIR)--A Leavenworth student may soon be on his way to one of the nation's prestigious military academies.
U.S. Senator Pat Roberts announced Thursday that Joshua Winton is one of several Kansas students who have received his nomination to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point.
In making his nominations, Roberts followed the recommendations of his nonpartisan Academy Screening Board. Roberts' nomination does not automatically guarantee admission to the academy. Winton must now meet the individual admission requirements for West Point. The academy will make the final decision on who will receive an appointment for admission.
Appointment decisions will be announced this spring.
