(KNZA)--A rural Horton man convicted on child sex-related charges has been sentenced to more than 12 years in prison.

Brown County Attorney Kevin Hill says 26-year-old Shandon Hoobler was sentenced Monday in Brown County District Court to 147 months in prison on charges of electronic solicitation of a child and sexual exploitation of a child.  Hill says Hoobler’s motion for probation and/or a reduction in sentence was denied.

He pleaded “ no contest” to the charges in December.

Authorities say the crimes happened between January 1st and May 16th of last year with a victim identified only as a Brown County child born in 2002.

Hoobler was arrested in May following an investigation by the Brown County Sheriff’s Department.
