(KLZA)-- The Past Exalted Rulers Association of Falls City Elk’s Lodge #963 will host their 10th annual barbecue dinner and auction Saturday to benefit the Richardson County Cancer Fund. The public is invited to attend at the newly renovated Elk’s Lodge with dinner served from 5-7 p-m for a free will offering followed by the auction starting at 7 p-m.
Some of the items donated for the auction include an autographed Husker Men’s basketball, a Colorado Blue Spuce tree, a Tiger quilt, a solid cherry occasional table and a 5-page website. Of course there will be pies on the auction.
In the past nine years the Richardson County Cancer Fund has raised more than $450,000, with about a quarter of the total raised by the annual P.E.R. event at the Elk’s Lodge. Each year, Richardson County cancer patients that have to travel outside the county for treatment may receive a $500 benefit form the Cancer Fund.
Nearly 350 benefits have been paid out totaling more than $142,000. The rest of the money is in an endowment to be used in the future.
Again the event begins with dinner at 5 p-m and includes smoked brisket, cheesy potatoes and green beans. The public is encouraged to attend.
