(KNZA)--The search for suspects, following the theft of a SUV in Hiawatha, and the use of a debit card that was inside the vehicle, continues.
Hiawatha Police Chief John Defore says the theft happened in downtown Hiawatha early Thursday evening. The vehicle was unlocked with the keys inside.
He said officers are currently running down leads that were developed through the debit card transactions, with two suspects captured on video surveillance at stores visited by the pair.
One is a white female in her early to mid 20’s, standing 5 foot 6 to 5 foot 8, weighing 160 to 180 pounds. She was wearing black basketball style shorts, a pink sleeveless shirt, and a black baseball cap on backwards. Her hair wasn’t visible under the cap.
The second suspect is a white male in his early to mid 20’s, standing 5 foot 8 to 5 foot 10, weighing 150 pounds, with short brown, slightly curly hair with pink dye. He was wearing a black t-shirt with an indiscernible logo on it and dark shorts.
Anyone with information regarding the case is encouraged to call the Hiawatha Police Department at 785-742-2155 or 911.
