(KAIR)--A power outage Saturday afternoon effected nearly 700 Westar customers in Atchison.
Power was initially lost just after 3:55, and had been completely restored twenty-five minutes later.
According to a representative from Westar, the outage is being blamed on a fire in a transformer at the intersection of Eighth Street and Division. The Atchison Fire Department was called to the scene, but the fire had already gone out on its own by the time crews arrived.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
