(KNZA)--A Monday night Pottawatomie County collision between an SUV and a deer sent a child to the hospital.
Sheriff Greg Riat says the wreck happened south of Highway 24, on Schoeman Road, in rural Belvue, with the southbound vehicle incurring damage to the passenger side when it collided with the animal.
The 11-year-old passenger was transported to a Topeka hospital for the treatment of injuries.
The driver, identified as rural Belvue resident David Thowe, was not hurt.
The wreck happened around 8:15.
