(KNZA)--Formal charges have been filed against a rural Mayetta man in connection with a deadly weekend stabbing.
Jackson County Attorney Shawna Miller says 49-year-old Wilson Noriega made his first appearance in a Jackson County courtroom Monday on charges of first-degree murder, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Noriega is charged in the fatal stabbing of 49-year-old Leann Sanchez early Saturday morning at a residence on the Prairie Band Potawatomi Reservation where the two lived.
Miller says a status hearing in the case is now set for December 22nd.
Noriega remains in the Jackson County Jail, held on a one million dollar bond.
